A police team from Delhi have arrested a couple of men for illegal possession of firecrackers in Sadar Bazar, an area in North Delhi. The vehicle was located by the Police patrolling team parked near a hotel in Sadar Bazar. When Police checked the vehicle, it contained 591.5 kilograms of firecrackers wrapped and packed in plastic bags.
The accused, Faiz, hailed from Hapur Uttar Pradesh, a 19-year-old and Billu, 21-year-old hailing from Meerut, along with a minivan driver who was detained on the spot.
During their interrogation, it was revealed by Faiz that he hailed properly from the Hapur district and was selling firecrackers in Delhi. Since firecrackers are banned in Delhi, he knew he could earn a good margin by helping vendors of firecrackers in Delhi.
His friend Billu who hailed from Meerut had helped him to purchase the entire firecrackers, and the driver helped them both to transport the crackers from Hapur to Delhi. Delhi Police Official Sagar Singh Kalsi DCP (North) has declared that both accused have been registered under section 286 of negligence with explosive substances and under section 188, a refusal to obey a public servant.
Other than the two sections, various sections of the Explosive Act of the Indian Penal Code have been registered against both the detained accused.
