Filing a dowry case proved expensive and dangerous to a gun-downed college lecturer in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
Police Official Bijnor SP Dharamveer Singh stated that a lady lecturer identified as Priya Sharma, aged 35 years, lived in Surendra Nagar colony, an area under the Bijnor city police station jurisdiction. She was found dead in Saket Colony while heading back to her residence from work.
The local residents who rushed out of their residences after hearing gunshot blasts around 11:30 am on Friday saw two bike-riding men fleeing the spot after shooting her down and leaving her lying in her pool of blood. Priya Sharma worked as an English lecturer in a private college for around eight years in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district, and she was pronounced dead by the hospital authorities, where she was taken by the police team immediately according to a report in the Times of India.
A few years ago, she had married Mr Kamal Dutt Sharma, who resided at Bhatawali Village. Priya had filed a dowry case against him and his family on Thursday. Priya’s family insisted that the shooting was carried out or planned by her husband, who had allegedly shot her before using a country-made firearm.
On receiving the complaint lodged by Priya’s family, the police have booked Kamal Dutt Sharma and his family members for murder, three teams have been formed to arrest them.
The deceased Priya Sharma was a highly educated woman, a PhD holder, and had cracked NET a few years ago.
