Bypoll Results: Counting of Votes to Begin Today in 13 States, Over 30 Constituencies

The Election Commission will start counting votes for the bypolls today that was conducted around 13 states on Saturday.

The by-elections happened in 3 LokSabha and 29 assembly constituencies spread over more than a dozen states and the UT Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The top candidates in this election are INLD leader Abhay Chautala who quit the Haryana assembly in protest against the 3 farm laws.

Congress’ Pratibha Singh who is the wife of late CM Virbhadra Singh.

Ex-Minister from Telangana called Eatala Rajender and former national footballer Eugeneson Lyngdoh.

Abhay Chautala is the son of Om Prakash Chautala is contesting the elections against Congress nominee Pawan Beniwal.

It is an important election for the Chautala family as Abhay Chautala had won the 2010 by-poll elections from Ellenbad. It happened after his father vacated the seat and retained it again in the 2014 and 2019 assembly elections.

The assembly by-elections saw a high turnout that was conducted for 5 seats in Assam, 3 in MP, Himachal and Meghalaya, 4 in West Bengal, 2 in Bihar, Karnataka and Rajasthan and 1 in Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra, Haryana, Mizoram, Telangana.

Out of 29 Assembly seats, the BJP won over half of a dozen constituencies before, the Congress had 9 and the rest were won by regional parties.

The Lok-Sabha by-polls were held at Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Khandwa in MP and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. It was conducted as the sitting members had died.
