On Tuesday, the Punjab Police seized ninety bags of poppy husk weighing 1800 kilograms at Badduwal bypass sub-division of Moga, Punjab from a godown. The Police has booked eleven persons in connection with the matter.
Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, Director -General of Police (DGP) Punjab, stated that acting upon information by a secret source; Surinderjit Singh Mand, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) conducted a raid at the godown by sending a police team.
Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota (DGP) said in a statement that the police team was able to seize the poppy husk and has booked 11 people in the case so far.
Sahota further stated that they identified the main accused as Pippal Singh of Daulewal Village, serving 30 years of sentence in jail under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The other ten persons accused and booked were identified as Minna Singh, Gurjinder Singh, Jugraj Singh, Inderjit Singh, Paramjit Singh, Buta Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Rasaal Singh, Karamjit Singh, all of these are from Daulewala Village and Mangal Singh from Mandir Village.
Superintended Mand also stated that further investigation is being conducted to identify more accused, on proper identification they will be arrested soon.
On November 1, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Dharamkot under sections 15-61/85 of the NDPS Act.
