WhatsApp is testing a new feature of cashback for users who use WhatsApp payments. It will offer cashback to users when they do UPI transactions through it. It is going to be available for Android and iOS beta users soon.
WhatsApp had launched its payment feature for everyone recently that let users send money while chatting instantly. They have also inserted the payments icon right at the chatting bar to ease it for the users.
WABetaInfo reported that the new cashback feature will first roll out for some particular beta testers only and not everyone.
There is still no clarity on when it will be launched on a broader scale.
The tracker WABetaInfo reported that this feature was first spotted by an Indian follower Vipin who received cashback after sending money to 5 accounts. It gave a cashback of Rs 51 each that totalled Rs 255.
The reports also stated that this can be a limited promotional offer to promote the payments option of WhatsApp and urge more users to try the payments option.
After the cashback amount is received, one can check the transactions on the History page of the WhatsApp payment settings.
The selection of users to test the new cashback feature is random and no one has information regarding how the accounts are chosen. However, WeBetaInfo states that if you wish to try this feature, you must update to the latest version of WhatsApp for both Android and iOS.
It is also reported that currently, the cashback amount is only Rs 51 for transactions of Rs 1 and above.
