Google Drive has come up with a new feature that will help users locate their files easily if there are many files together. It is called Search Chips which is similar to Google search filters that were launched in September 2021 to let users search the files and folders faster.
Currently, this feature is available in the beta version. Google announced this new feature in their blog post. With the latest feature, when you enter a search query you will see a row of options for the search. There are filters to specify your search query like file type, date, location, titles etc. You can put all these filters together and search the file you are looking for.
As it is only in the beta phase, people who want to try this new feature have to fill this Google form. It is mainly available for all Google Workspace customers and business customers.
In September, this sort of search filter started rolling for Gmail to make it easier for users to quickly find old emails. The search filters can be customized based on a timeframe, senders etc.
Gmail would then suggest labels, email contacts and refine the search. The results don’t include spam and trash folders. All these functionalities are now available for Business customers, Google Workspace and G Suite Basic only.
Search filters are a relief because we often forget the specifics of files and folders which have made us pretty much dependent on Google vastly. We go back to it again and again to remember the slightest things and Google has become pretty smart whether it is a song name or a movie name or a monument name.
Over these years with the help of AI and machine learning, Google just gets you the way no one can. It can be dangerous but at the same time, it has made our lives much easier.
Recently Google has introduced lots of interesting features to make our lives easier like it can recognise a song when you hum it, pretty amazing right?
