Modern resting pods are now available for common people at affordable rates by the Indian Railways. The Ministry of Railways got first its kind pod hotels that are situated at the Mumbai Central station. According to the statement of a senior Western official, you can stay in these pods at Rs 999 for 12 hours and Rs 1,999 for 24 hours with facilities like WiFi, TV, locker, mirror and reading lights.

The pod gives a cosy feeling and people who watch a lot of sci-fi movies and shows will be familiar with our favourite space characters living in a capsule while travelling to deep space. The pod hotel has many small bed-sized capsules where people can stay overnight comfortably. Indian Railways first pod hotel was inaugurated virtually by Union minister of state for Railways Raosaheb Danve yesterday. He also inaugurated various passenger amenities via video conference.
During the inauguration, Danve said that the pod hotel is affordable for passengers and the Railways will ensure that the passengers are provided with confirmed seats. These seats are not available for people who are travelling in general compartments, he added.
On this occasion, Danve also announced platforms dedicated to people at Ambernath and Kopar railway stations, escalators, lifts, toilet blocks, foot overbridges. He also inaugurated a coach themed restaurant at Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus.
Alok Kansal, general manager of western railways said that the total cost of all these projects and facilities was worth 230 crores. He said that this concept is one of the first on the Indian Railways.
