India vs New Zealand: Rohit Sharma equals Virat Kohli’s record with most 50-plus scores in T20I cricket

India T20I captain Rohit Sharma on Friday equalled former captain Virat Kohli’s record for the most 50 plus scores in the shortest format after India won from New Zealand by 7 wickets in the 2nd T20I in Ranchi yesterday.

KL Rahul made 117 runs off 80 balls along with Rohit Sharma making a target of 155-3 whereas New Zealand lost the match at 153-6. KL Rahul hit six 4s and 2 sixes and he made a fantastic half-century off 39 balls. Rohit Sharma made 55 runs off 36 balls by that time – he shot one 4 and 5 sixes.

Rahul and Sharma’s amazing partnership made India’s win even more prominent at JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. Rohit Sharma’s 29th half-century bought him in equal level to Virat Kohli who is not playing this series. On the other hand, Rahul scored his 16th half-century with T20 International.

Rishabh Pant finished the match with two 6s back to back. Martin Guptill of New Zealand started with three 4s and two 6s reaching 48 off 26 balls in partnership with Maryl Mitchell.

New Zealand batsmen couldn’t put up a big score for India in the second match. Mark Chaman scored 21 off 17 balls and Glenn Phillips made 34 runs with 21 balls securing one 4 and three 6s.

Debutant Harshal Patel secured 2-25 in 4 overs while Ravichandran Ashwin took 1-19. India performed well with an unbeatable 2-0 lead with outstanding performances of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Harshal Patel.

India finished the game in just 17.2 overs making the easy score of 154 runs. The final score was 155-3.
