The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has issued an open letter to PM Narendra Modi in which they have laid6 more demands after the 3 farm laws were repealed. If the demands are not met, the protests and agitations will continue. One of the demands is that the government guarantees the purchase of crops at a support price.
The SKM explained in the letter that the entire cost of cultivation should have a legal price for all farmers on all agricultural produce. It means that every farmer in the country will have to pay a minimum price to the government for the crops.
The other demands in the open letter are withdrawal of provisions of punishment to farmers in the Commission for Air Quality Management Act, 2021, Electricity Act Amendment Bill, and demanding action against Ashish Misra’s son Ajay Misra for the Lakhimpur Kheri murder incident.
The SKM also stated that they are disappointed with the vague announcement of the withdrawal of the 3 farm laws and that they expect a legal guarantee for their hard work.
Here are the 6 demands farmers wrote in the open letter
Minimum Support Price should be a legal entitlement.
Withdrawal of Electricity Act Amendment Bill, 2020/2021
Withdrawal of provisions of punishment to farmers in the Commission for Air Quality Management Act, 2021
Immediately withdraw cases against thousands of farmers who are a part of this movement since the beginning in Delhi, UP, Chandigarh, Haryana and many other states.
Ajay Misra must be arrested who was the mastermind behind the Lakhimpur Kheri murder case under section 120B
During this historical protest, more than 700 farmers died. The SKM requested a system of compensation and rehabilitation to be given to their families. Land must be dedicated to them at the Indus border to build a martyr memorial in the memory of those farmers.
They further stated that they want to go back to their homes and families as soon as they can. They asserted that if the PM wants the same then he must immediately work on these demands.
