Handwritten Manuscript of Albert Einstein documenting the Theory of Relativity auctioned in Paris

A Fifty-four-page handwritten notes document on the Theory of Relativity written by Albert Einstein & his colleague Michele Besso in Zurich in 1913-1914 while working on the theory were auctioned in Paris on Tuesday.

The Notes were a preparatory working of the actual Theory of Relativity which was published in 1915 and was auctioned for a record amount of 11.6 million euros ($13 million).

The documents had been actually valued at a quarter of $13 million & have exceeded the pricing of many documents written by the genius scientist.

Officials from Christie’s, the world-renowned auction house handled the sale in Paris on behalf of the Aguttes Auction House, the officials stated that initially it was expected that the sale would reach a high till three million dollars, but $13 million made the Document the most valued one ever written by Einstein.

Previous records for Einstein documents or other works like the “God Letter” sold in 2018 for $2.8 million & a letter known as a “Secret to Happiness” for $1.56 million in 2017.

The auction bidding was started at 1.5 million euros but quickly arose far quickly than estimated; a couple of bidders were battling over the Document, with each bid over 2,00,000 euros.

The auction bid had a turnover of almost a hundred collectors & other onlookers turning up for sale; all the bids were bring done remotely.

The identity of the winner, their nationality was still not made public.

Christie’s officials said that the Document was preserved by Besso colleague of Einstein, for posterity since the genius Einstein would not have felt the necessity to hold on to the Working Document.

The Document actually discusses general Relativity before he completed his special theory of Relativity in 1905; this theory had later been changed into the famous formula of relativity E=mc2.

Einstein theories of Relativity aided other scientists in introducing new ideas while looking at the movement of various bodies in space & time
the anomaly of Planet Mercury’s orbit was attacked by Besso in 1913 & later dropped by Einstein.

Einstein won the Nobel Physics Prize in 1921; his documents in this period 1913 to 1919 are extremely rare & very valuable.

The sold Document bearing the initial working of genesis to the theory of Relativity is also very rare.
