DG Shakti named portal has been floated by the UP Government, which will be launched shortly by the Chief Minister.

This portal will guide the students towards the process of distribution of free smartphones & tablet computers. Also, guiding content will be added through the portal from time to time on the registered email ID & mobile numbers of the students of UP.

The officials informed that the process from the registry to the final delivery of the smartphones & tablets is totally free without any charge; the registered student’s data will be provided to the University from respective colleges as the student’s data will be managed by the concerned universities.

The officials also added that by Monday, students data to the tune of 27 lakh students had already been uploaded on the portal, while speeding upload of the remaining students’ data on the portal is underway.

The Uttar Pradesh government has floated a tender amounting to Rs. Four thousand seven hundred crores on the GeM portal for requisitioned purchase of the smartphones & tablets, the officials claimed that the bid would be opened after the tender has been appropriately scrutinized on the technical level.

The government will be issuing the work order for procurement, most probably in the first week of December 2021.

The Samajwadi Party Chief at a meet held in inter-college at Azamgarh stated that this distribution is a delayed one according to the BJP manifesto of 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls wherein the present Yogi led government had promised laptops & tablets instead of smartphones & tablets with free data plus WiFi connections at their colleges to each student of Uttar Pradesh.

The SP leader also commented that the Chief Minister himself has no knowledge of operating laptops; therefore, he has refrained laptops from the distribution scheme of his party-led government.
