In the ongoing investigation of a multi-crore extortion racket operated by conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, actors Jaqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi were questioned by the Enforcement Directorate.
As stated in the charge sheet by the probe agency, both the actors, however, have confessed to receiving gifts from the accused. It also came to light that the wife of the conman Sukesh Chandrashekar also played a vital role while the conman lavished gifts on both the actors, including iPhone and BMW car.
Conman Chandrashekar’s wife Leena Maria Paul and including six others have been charge-sheeted by the Enforcement Directorate in a Delhi court.
The agency had questioned both the actors as their investigation would get new leads from following the money trail, details of the gifts received by the actors from Sukesh Chandrashakear have been shared by them with the agency officials.
Jaqueline Fernandez was contacted by Chandrashekar and befriended through a “spoof call” which replicated the office number of Union Home Minister Amit Shah while Nora Fatehi was contacted by the conman’s wife during a charity program at Chennai as stated by Agency officials.
Nora Fatehi during her interrogation stated that she had received a BMW Sedan from the conman while his wife Leena had gifted her an iPhone and Gucci bag on behalf of her husband as a “token of love”.
Actor Fernandez had to appear before the agency twice this year and has also confessed to receiving gifts from the conman which included a horse worth Rs 52 lakh, and Hermes bracelet, Multi-Stone earrings, a Persian cat worth Rs 9 lakh and a $1.5 lakh loan apart from the above gifts, a Mini Cooper car was given which Actor Fernandez claimed that she returned it back to the conman.
She further confessed to the agency that her makeup artist Shaan Muttathil was allegedly contacted by the government office to get in touch with the conman as he would like to meet her and was a VIP.
Actor Fernandez even said that the conman insisted that he was her big fan and encouraged her to do movies in the Southern film industry as he knew Sun TV had a number of projects lined up. The agency in its investigation noted that Miss Fernandez was in continuous contact from February with the conman till he was arrested on August 7 by the Delhi Police.
The conman even when in prison ran an extortion racket from his phone through the help of spoofed calls with displayed numbers of senior government officers to help people for a certain price as stayed by the Enforcement Directorate officials
