Alexa—just like Google Assistant, helps you in all walks of life by not walking. It is a great tool for smart homes. Alexa is an AI that is more sensitive than Google Assistant. Alexa is very useful and you might not know its true potential yet. I was recently gifted an Echo Dot, and still figuring out how this AI works, let’s learn about it together!
Let’s begin with how to set up Amazon Echo Dot which is the cheapest Alexa in the market.
- First of all, you have to download the Alexa app on your smartphone from Playstore or App Store.
- Choose devices on the lower right corner
- Click on ‘Add Device’ and then choose Amazon Echo Dot, choose which generation Echo Dot you own.
- Plugin your Amazon Echo, Once the blue light turns to orange mode – it means it is ready for setup.
- Wait for your Echo Dot to appear on the phone and then select it. You will be directed to go to your Wifi settings to connect the echo to wifi. Select the network and go back to the Alexa app.
- Connect with your home WiFi.
- Choose the room where your Echo Dot will be located.
- Now just say Alexa and she will listen to you!
You can do some fun things while you are at it like, ‘Alexa tell me a Hindi joke’ or ‘Alexa, let’s play a game’.
There are tons of short games and quizzes in Alexa that you can take a look at Alexa app. Some of the most popular ones are Chidiya Udd, Question of the day, Simon Says, Rock Paper Scissors etc.
You can also ask her recipes, anything you want to cook today. She will narrate the entire recipe. You can select from a wide range of skills and games at the Moreà Skills and Games section. You can ask her to make your grocery list, order an Uber, order food and so much more.
Alexa is very useful as a Bluetooth speaker, they have stupendous sound quality that you can use for house parties, family gatherings or even when you are finishing your chores at home.
