This might be one of the biggest openings of Marvel’s Spiderman universe with crossing over $1 billion at the global box office.
Since the pandemic, this might be the first film that grossed such a massive income worldwide and why wouldn’t it, such big superstars in a single frame grabbed eyeballs. On Sunday, Spiderman No Way Home became the first billion-dollar grossing film of the pandemic era. Despite another popular film ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ starrer Keanu Reeves releasing simultaneously, didn’t make so much money as Spiderman NWH. Exhibitor Relations reported that the movie is still maintaining the top spot at the box office.
Right in the first 12 days of the release, the movie garnered over $467.3 million in North America and $587 million internationally equalling $1 billion, news agency AFP reported. As per different reports, only 2 films had garnered such high grossing so quickly – Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame. Well, it is fair that all of them were Marvel movies and tells how big their viewership is.
However, the Avengers movies were released before the pandemic, this one was released now when the Omicron scare is reaching new heights and yet the movie didn’t stop earning billions.
The Matrix Resurrections that was released parallelly in North America and released a week later after Spiderman NWH in India, is currently underperforming with a gross income of $12 million.
Spiderman No Way Home is now on theatres on different versions like 2D, 3D, IMAX. The movie caught everyone’s attention with its startling cast ensemble. The movie was so far the best one in Tom Holland’s Spiderman trilogy. With such massive popularity, probably, it won’t remain just a trilogy and come for more parts. The movie is a must THEATRE watch that no spiderman fan should miss.
Spiderman NWH is directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland along with an ensemble cast featuring Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, and Jamie Foxx.
