83 Box Office Report: Ranveer Singh’s Film Simply Drops, Both on Hype And Numbers

Ranveer Singh starrer 83 crosses Rs 50 crore at the Box Office after its 4 days run in the theatres. The Kabir Khan directed film grossed about Rs 54.29 crore this Monday by gaining about 7.29 crore in a single day. The opening of the film at Rs 12.64 crore which was a bit less than expected in contrast to the hype surrounding the movie.

The film had a lot of anticipation right from the day it was announced on how 83 will be with Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, their huge promotional campaign felt like the movie will at least reach 100 crores at the box office by the end of its opening week. However, it looks like the Hollywood hyper overshadowed the milestone film about the first-ever cricket world cup won by Team India. Pushpa: The Rise Part I also did pretty well in the theatres.

Well, it will be unfair to compare a Bollywood and an international release. However, the anticipation, the promotion and the hype of 83 were pretty high. Everyone was excited to see Ranveer Singh don a new avatar. Cricket fans were the most excited. However, it doesn’t show the hype in numbers.

The film was wholesome, and one of the reasons it might not have done well was because of high rates and more 3D shows available for it than 2D, yes, the cricket biopic has more 3D shows in multiplexes than 2D shows across major cities. This movie is a hard pass for 3D as there are no such visual effects that you would like to watch in 3D. The movie is a must-watch for cricket lovers as they touch the most emotional and inspiring incidents from 83. It makes you laugh, inspires you, makes you cry and you come out of the screens with a full heart.
