AR Rahman’s Eldest Daughter Khatija Gets Engaged in Private Ceremony, Shares Photo

Music legend AR Rahman’s eldest daughter and musician Khatija Rahman announced her engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed on Sunday. She took to Instagram to announce her big news. Riyasdeen is a sound engineer and the duo got engaged on December 29.

“With the blessings of the Almighty, I’m happy to announce to you all my engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer. The engagement happened on 29th December, my birthday in the presence of close family and loved ones,” she wrote as the caption. As soon as she shared the news, Neeti Mohan, Nisa Shetty and others congratulated the couple.

In 2021, Khatija Rahman sang ‘Rock A Bye Baby’ for Kriti Sanon starrer ‘Mimi’ which was composed by AR Rahman.

Recently, Rushda Rahman, AR Rahman’s niece and the daughter of Tamil actor Rahman also got hitched in a lavish ceremony in Chennai. She is also related to the Oscar-winning music composer through his wife Saira Banu. She got married to Altaf Nawad and hosted a grand reception on December 9 in Chennai where AR Rahman and all his family were present. High profile guests like Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also graced the wedding in Chennai.

AR Rahman has three daughters Khatija Rahman, Rahima Rahman and Ameen Rahman. Music runs in their family and his daughters Ameen and Khatija are fascinating singers. Ameen has sung ‘NaNa’ from Couples Retreat and Khatija has sung “Pudhiya Manidha” from Enthiran.

Born Hindu, AR Rahman converted to Islam in his 20s. After the untimely death of his father, he and his mother faced a lot of trouble, Sufism influenced his mother who was practising Hinduism.
