People using voice notes might have faced this issue that when you listen to them, you have to stay on the app until the voice note ends. This hurdle might just come to an end.
WhatsApp is testing a global voice message feature on Android that would let you continue to listen to voice notes even if you are not on the app. Currently, when you switch apps, the voice notes or audios in chats close. This new update will allow voice messages to play in the background.
For the past few months, WhatsApp has been working on its voice note experience to encourage users to use it more.
According to WABetaInfo (WhatsApp beta tracker), the beta version 126.96.36.199 will have this feature, however, it is not yet made available to beta testers.
WABetaInfo shared a screenshot that depicted this new feature. It shows an audio interface where you can pause, play and dismiss the voice message that would appear on the top of the chat list. There will also be a progress bar to show the movement of the audio.
This feature will let users continue to listen to voice messages when they move to other chats. Along with Android, iOS users will also get the same user experience. However, the exact dates of this feature’s release are still unknown, it is also unclear that when this will be available to beta testers of Android and iOS.
In December, WhatsApp rolled out a voice note preview feature that allowed users to check their recordings before sending them to their contacts. It has also introduced waveforms for voice messages and enabled playback speed support for audio messages.
This feature will be a great addition to the app as it was troublesome to hear voice notes staying on the particular chat. Now users can navigate to other chats as well.
