GOOD NEWS FOR GOVT EMPLOYEES: Centre likely to increase basic pay of Employees to Rs 26,000 before assembly polls (7th Pay Commission)

Just ahead of the assembly elections in 5 states, the Central government employees may get an unexpected gift from the government. According to various media reports, the Central government is considering a hike in salary for employees in the fitment factor.

If the fitment factor increases, the basic salary also increases. Media reports also state that government employees can get a hike up to Rs 26,000 which is much higher than before. Previously the government had given Rs 18,000 hike in the fitment factor.

Other media reports stated that different organizations under the government are planning to hold a meeting with the representatives regarding this decision. After the meeting, there is a possibility that a big increase will happen in the minimum salary of the government employees.

The central and state government employees have been demanding an increase in the fitment factor from 2.57% to 3.68% for a very long time. The golden hour might just be here as the Centre is considering a hike in the fitment factor.

The last time the government had given a hike that raised the basic salary of the employees was back in 2016. Their pay was increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 18,000. If the basic pay increases to Rs 26,000 this time then the dearness allowance will also increase. According to the calculation, the Dearness Allowance is equal to 31% of Basic Pay.
