Around 2.71 lakh new Covid cases in India, Keypoints of Covid news around the nation

India’s Covid graph continued to trend upwards today, with 2.71 lakh instances recorded. According to the Health Ministry, 314 individuals have died as a result of Covid in the last 24 hours.

1. The total number of cases in the country today stands at 3.71 million. This includes 7,743 Omicron variant instances, which are currently found in 28 states.

2. The current cases now account for 4.18 per cent of all infections, while the COVID-19 recovery rate has dropped to 94.51 per cent nationwide. According to data released this morning by the Health Ministry, the active COVID-19 caseload has increased by 1,32,557 cases in only 24 hours.

3. The daily positivity rate increased slightly from 16.66 to 16.28 per cent, but the weekly positivity rate remained the same at 13.69 per cent. According to the ministry, the total number of doses provided in the country as part of the countrywide immunisation push has surpassed 156.76 crores.

4. One hundred six people from Kerala and 39 from West Bengal are among the 314 fresh fatalities. Maharashtra has 1,41,779 fatalities, Kerala has 50,674 deaths, Karnataka has 38,418 deaths, Tamil Nadu has 36,967 deaths, Delhi has 25,335 deaths, Uttar Pradesh has 22,953 deaths, and West Bengal has 20,052 deaths.

5. Maharashtra, one of the states most impacted by the Covid epidemic, saw 42,462 new coronavirus infections, down 749 from the day before, and 23 fatalities. The total number of cases presently stands at 71,70,483, with 1,41,779 deaths. During the day, 125 new Omicron cases were discovered in the state, bringing the total number of such illnesses to 1,730.
