GOOGLE Workspace to get a new look: Google to roll out ‘Integrated View’ on Feb 9 with Dedicated Gmail. Chat, Meet, Spaces Tabs.
Google is all set to roll out a redesigned version of Gmail to Workspace users later this month. These changes are a part of the big update Google has been planning for Gmail that was announced last year. Google aims to combine all of its professional services like Google Chat, Meet and Spaces.
The redesigned Gmail for Workspace users will have the ‘integrated view’ starting from next week, according to Google. Instead of using 4 different tabs for the 4 functions, now users will be able to switch among them under a single tab. As a result, users will be able to an enlarged version of Gmail.
The notification bubble will keep users up to date. Here is a screenshot shared by Google Workspace on how it will look like.
According to the blog update, users will be able to the new layout along with the mail and label options. Google announced this change first in September 2021, revealing that the users will be able to place one on one calls with other users in Gmail without a Google Meet link. The Spaces tab will combine with Workspace tools and allow you to share documents while showing conversation histories.
Google has been working on combining all its work tools to make it easy for their customers who are employees working from home and hybrid work mode due to COVID 19. Google’s integrated view will be available for Google Workspace Business, Enterprise, Education, Frontline, Nonprofit, G Suite Basic, and Business accounts. It is still unclear whether this update will be available for non-enterprise workspace users or not.
Google Workspace users who are not opting to try this new layout will automatically upgrade to the new layout by April 2022. They will allow users to switch to the old layout; however it will permanently terminate the current layout by the end of 2022, Google Workspace mentioned this in their blog.
