On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Police detained two individuals connected to an attack on AIMIM head and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s convoy in Hapur.
An FIR has been filed, and the two suspects, Sachin and Shubham, have been charged under Section 307 of the IPC (murder attempt).
Prashant Kumar, the ADG (Law and Order) of Uttar Pradesh, stated that the two accused would be produced before Hapur court on Friday and that police would demand their detention. The investigation is in its early stages, and further facts and information about the case will be presented during a news conference later today.
Accused Sachin resides in Badalpur, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with his family. He claimed to have an LLM (Master of Laws) qualification, which the authorities are investigating. Sachin has been charged under Section 307 for allegedly being involved in the attack on Owaisi.
Following his detention, authorities questioned Sachin’s family at their Badalpur house for five to six hours. According to Father Vinod Pandit, he undertakes contract work giving labour to 20-25 private enterprises, and Sachin assists him with the job.
Shubham, the second individual detained, lives in Sampla Begumpur, Saharanpur. His mom and dad are no longer alive. He is a class 10 graduate who works in farming and has no criminal record.
During interrogation, the two suspects admitted to being acquainted with each other. Both were enraged by Asaduddin Owaisi’s and his brother, Akbaruddin Owaisi’s, remarks. They used to follow Owaisi’s speeches on social media.
They decided to follow Owaisi after learning that he would be attending public demonstrations in Meerut and Kithore.
The two were found with handguns produced in their own country. After being caught and questioned, they revealed the identities of two more people, and authorities are working to apprehend them.
