Lata Mangeshkar, a legendary vocalist, died at the age of 92. She was transported to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on January 8 following testing positive for Covid-19. Over the last few weeks, she has been receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Her health has deteriorated after first exhibiting signs of improvement. Regrettably, she died away today, putting the entire country in mourning.

Lata Mangeshkar had been showing indications of recovery for a few days, and her team had come out to beg everyone to pray for her. After a long fight in the hospital, Lata Mangeshkar died today.


In the world of playback singing, Lata Mangeshkar was a force to be reckoned with. Over the course of her seven-decade career, she sang songs such as Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo, Yeh Kahan Aage Hain Hum, Lag Jaa Gale, and Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. She was awarded Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, the Bharat Ratna, and Dadasaheb Phalke Award for her great talent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the death of Lata Mangeshkar, saying that he is in excruciating pain. Lata Didi, a nice and compassionate woman, has died. She has left the country with an unfillable void. Her lovely voice had an unrivalled power to mesmerise listeners, and future generations will commemorate her as a pillar of Indian culture.


In honour of Lata Mangeshkar, a two-day national mourning period will be celebrated. As a gesture of respect, the national flag would be flown at half-mast for two days; Government sources were reported by the news agency ANI.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, both members of Congress, expressed their sympathies on Twitter. She had been India’s most cherished voice for many decades said Rahul Gandhi, and her “golden voice” was eternal and will continue to resound in the hearts of her devotees.
