Last week, some Reliance Jio customers were unable to make calls due to outages in the Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh regions. When initiating calls, users reported receiving the warning “Not registered on network.” To compensate for the inconvenience caused, Reliance Jio is now providing affected subscribers with two days of free calling and broadband services.
In essence, Reliance Jio will continue to extend the validity of your prepaid plan and offer additional two-day credit to the postpaid bills of users who were affected by the network outage last week. According to The Indian Express, Jio is sending a message to impacted consumers that says as a goodwill gesture, Jio is offering a 2-DAY RENTAL CREDIT that will get credited to the user’s number instantly. The free rental credit will be reflected in the user’s next payment.
Take it as a recompense from Jio for those who were left high and dry last week when neither their calls nor their internet worked. Several people rushed to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the network and criticized Reliance Jio for all of it. People began drawing comparisons since other networks, such as Airtel and Vodafone Idea, were operational.
While cell services were generally disrupted in a certain area, several Jio subscribers reported that their Jio Fiber connection was not working. However, there is no word on whether Reliance Jio is also paying Fiber consumers. Jio has also declined to comment on what prompted the significant disruption to mobile services in only two circles, despite the fact that the network in the remaining circles remained fairly fully operational.
Meanwhile, Jio was recently reported to have completed its 5G pilot testing. According to 91Mobiles, Jio’s 5G network achieved download speeds of 420Mbps and upload speeds of 412Mbps, which is 8 times faster and 15 times quicker than Jio’s 4G network. The government has indicated that the spectrum auction for 5G services may take effect this year, with the implementation possibly beginning in 2022-23. And Reliance Jio appears to be ready for the launch. According to prior rumours, Jio may make 5G-related announcements at the forthcoming shareholders’ meeting. It is possible that Jio may give a date for the 5G debut at that time, but there can be no guarantee until the auction takes place.
