Just when it appeared like Akshay Kumar might cancel his planned performance on The Kapil Sharma Show, calamity was averted. Kapil Sharma, the presenter of the eponymous comedy series, revealed in a tweet today that he had spoken with Akshay Kumar, that everything was OK, and that the actor will be promoting his new film Bachchan Pandey on The Kapil Sharma as planned. For those unaware, Akshay Kumar allegedly took objection after a clip from an earlier episode of The Kapil Sharma Show that he had shot was leaked online.

It was reported on Monday that the Bachchan Pandey episode had been cancelled because Akshay Kumar refused to participate in The Kapil Sharma Show. It all started when Kapil Sharma mentioned Akshay Kumar’s interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi; after taping the show, Akshay allegedly asked the station that broadcasts The Kapil Sharma Show not to run the tape, which they agreed to. It was, however, leaked online. While Akshay accepted all of Kapil’s jokes front on, the dig on the PM interview seemed to insult the decorum of such a high office. As a result, Akshay requested that the broadcaster not run the question. Because the show is not live, attendees have the right to make such a request.
The station consented, but the scene was quickly released on the internet. According to a source, it was a violation of trust on the side of someone in Kapil’s crew, and Akshay requested clarity before appearing on the show again.
Damage control was plainly necessary, and according to Kapil Sharma’s tweet, it has been accomplished.
Farhad Samji’s Bachchan Pandey also stars Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, and Pankaj Tripathi. It will be released in theatres on March 18.
