Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra minister, declared today that the Nationalist Congress Party, Congress, and Shiv Sena would not just continue to administer Maharashtra but would also take over at the Centre by dethroning the BJP.
Mr. Malik, the NCP’s national spokesperson, made the remarks in response to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s accusation that he was approached by “some individuals” who requested him to help overthrow the MVA administration in Maharashtra to drive the state into mid-term elections.
In a letter to Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday, Mr. Raut further claimed that national agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) were targeting Shiv Sena politicians after the Uddhav Thackeray-led party formed a coalition with the NCP and Congress in Maharashtra.
Following the 2019 Assembly elections, the three parties established the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) administration in Maharashtra after the Shiv Sena severed relations with its long-term ally BJP over the issue of sharing the chief ministerial seat.
However, it is their (the BJP’s) misconception that we will be terrified. No matter how hard they try, the (state) administration will finish its five-year term. This government will be in power for the next 25 years. We will be in power in the state, and we will also be in power at the national level, as Mr. Malik said.
The NCP leader also accused former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of being behind the national government’s measures against the BJP’s opponents.
He stated that the more the agencies intervene against MVA leaders, the more support they will receive from Maharashtra citizens.
Mr. Malik further stated that staff affiliated with central agencies should act by the law, rather than as employees of any political party.
