Shark Tank India: Entrepreneur Namita Thapar reveals she ‘REGRETS’ not investing in Jugaadu Kamlesh and Agri-Tourism’s Pitches
Shark Tank India went immensely popular among the online audience and it generated quite the ‘memeable’ content netizens love. However, it was also an interesting watch for the audience about how unique and different business ideas exist in India. In the latest interview, Namita Thapar, who was one of the sharks in the show, revealed that she regrets not investing in Agri-tourism pitches.
She said that after evaluating more than 170 pitches, she made deals with 25 businesses and invested over Rs 10 crore which is quite a big number.
In an interview with YourStory, she said that she invested about Rs 7 crore during the show and Rs 3 crore post-show in deals that she had lost and a few existing ones to increase her stakes.
Talking about her missed opportunities, Thapar revealed that she regrets not investing in certain businesses that had a great future.
“As future leaders, we need to champion not just founders who can scale and make money for us but also those who have tremendous potential, are working on a real problem but don’t have the right mentorship to gain traction in their business. Jugaadu Kamlesh and Pandurang of Agri-Tourism were both Maharashtrian farmers out to solve real problems but due to lack of right guidance hadn’t made sales,” said Namita.
She said that entrepreneurs have to be strong, and such businesses (Agri-tourism) must be backed up and it must not end up becoming the dream of leaders who have the right education and resources but of the common man too.
Shark Tank India aired its last episode on February 4. It is an adaptation of the popular show ‘Shark Tank’ in the US that has been running for 13 years there.
