IPL MEGA AUCTION 2022: Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapses on stage, IPL 2022 auction temporarily halted, to resume at 3.30pm

Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades suddenly collapsed midway through the IPL mega auction that is currently being held in Bengaluru. The auction is temporarily halted.

Edmeades collapsed on the stage while the bidding for Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga was going on. According to an update from official broadcasters Star Sports, he is doing fine now and is receiving medical treatment. An official update is yet awaited from IPL. The bidding will resume at 3.30 pm.

The auction began at noon today and Shikhar Dhawan was the first player to be sold to Punjab Kings at Rs 8.25 crore. Among the Marquee Players, Shreyas Iyer was the most expensive buy with KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) spending 12.25 crore for his signature.

This IPL Mega Auction is featuring a total of 600 players. The initial list had 1000 cricketers, however, the final list was trimmed to 590. There is a total of 217 slots open spread across 10 franchises up for grabs. Among the 600, 229 are capped players and 371 are uncapped players.

This year, Gujarat Titans are going to make their debut and they have bought in Mohammad Shami at Rs 6.25 crore officially.
