Flipkart recently announced the new ‘Sell Back Programme’ that will let you sell their used smartphone on the platform. It is beginning with smartphone resale and plans to eventually expand with other categories too. The announcement about this programme follows Flipkart’s acquisition of electronics re-commerce firm Yaantra. This programme is now live in major Indian cities across 1,500 pin codes.
A recent survey by IDC tells that Indians traded only 20 million smartphones out of the 125 million used smartphones. They announced this programme in a press release on February 14. This programme is available on the Flipkart app with a new option on the app’s bottom bar.
This programme will be applicable for all smartphones whether you have purchased them from Flipkart or somewhere else. It is now available across 1,700 pin codes of India including major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Patna and more. When you sell your smartphone on Flipkart, you will get an e-voucher from them that will show the ‘right buy-back value’.
When you put up your used smartphone for sale on Flipkart, it will ask you 3 simple questions. Once you confirm it, Flipkart will send a message that their executives will pick up the smartphone within 48 hours. After they have verified your product, it will send an e-voucher to you for the smartphone.
This Sell back programme is an effort by Flipkart to strengthen its re-commerce business like Yaantra and enhance after-sale offerings for its customers in the smartphones segment. Yaantra was established in 2013, it repairs and sells refurbished consumer tech products like smartphones and laptops.
This will also help the country to dispose of e-waste rather than storing it in their houses.
