Now you can like stories on Insta; Instagram introduces Likes on Stories With New ‘Private Story Likes’ Feature

After WhatsApp improves its features every other day, Instagram is second in line with its brand new features. Now you will be able to like stories then and there without replying to them, just the way you like posts. Also, whatever response you get on the story will be displayed in your DMs.

With this update, users can mark their likes for the stories without cluttering their DM inbox. Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced today about the Private Story likes on Twitter.

Starting to roll out today, you can now send some love by liking people’s stories without sending a DM.

The like icon will be between the send message option and the paper aeroplane icon. One different thing is that it won’t show the number of people who have liked your stories. It will appear in the viewer sheet but not in your DM thread with them.

This feature is introduced to improve the messaging experience on the platform. In December 2021, Mosseri had announced that Insta will focus more on messaging and double down work on controls to enhance transparency.

Instagram has added a lot of new features like the ‘Take a Break’ feature that reminds you to take a break from the app, remove posts, comments and other activities from the platform. Another interesting feature that was introduced which let users filter their content and interactions by date and search for comments, likes and stories replies on that specific date range. This feature is available in the ‘your activity section’.
