BIG NEWS: Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant in bio-bubble break by BCCI, leave home before 3rd T20I against West Indies
Ex-captain Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant won’t be playing the 3rd and final t20I match against West Indies in Kolkata as BCCI has decided to give the former India captain and current wicketkeeper a break from the Indian team’s bio bubble.
The cricket association has given both the batters a 10-day break from the Indian team’s bio-bubble. They further stated that Pant and Kohli won’t be playing in the 3 match T20 series against Sri Lanka beginning on February 24 in Lucknow. Virat Kohli wants to prepare for the 100th Test match of his career that is scheduled in the 1st week of March in Mohali.
Pant and Kohli were a part of the three ODIs against West Indies and scored important half-centuries in India’s 8-run win over West Indies in the second T20I of the series on Friday.
“I decided to be positive when I went in,” Kohli told broadcasters after his innings.
“Despite losing a few wickets, I wanted to continue in the same way. I was disappointed to get out because the game was set up nicely to go hard in the last few overs, which is my strength. I am happy that I went out with a clear intent today.”
ESPNcricinfo reported that the decision of giving a break to the players is a part of the policy to ensure that all format regulars are given breaks periodically to recharge. Pant’s absence will give some time to Shreyas Iyer or Ruturaj Gaikwad who was sitting out of the T20Is so far. Ishan Kishan will take the wicketkeeping.
