IND v/s WI T20I : Rohit Sharma surpasses Virat Kohli after India wins the T20I title for the 1st time in 6 years

It is a great time for Team India, as their hard work finally paid off by winning the3rd and last game of the T20I series against West Indies on Sunday. India scripted a 2nd consecutive T20I win at their home and this time, against West Indies. With this, the Indian cricket team won the T20I title for the first time in 6 years. It also helped Rohit Sharma to take his place as the new captain of the team flawlessly.

India now has a rating of 269, surpassing England and holds the No. 1 rank on the T20I ICC chart. The last time India held this position was in 2016 with MS Dhoni as the captain. India is shining on the ground after they suffered a group stage exit in the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE followed by Virat Kohli stepping down from captaincy.

Under Rohit’s captaincy so far, India beat New Zealand by 3-0 last year and now beating West Indies with the same 3-0 score making it the first time than Team India have won consecutive matches in the T20I series.

This was also India’s sixth whitewash win in a bilateral T20I tie, 4 of which came after Rohit became captain. He had earlier led the Indian team to a series win against Sri Lanka (3-0) in 2017/18, West Indies (3-0) in 2018/19, and New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma surpassed Virat Kohli as he takes the second position of most wins for a captain in T20Is in India. It was Rohit’s 14th win in 15 games on the Indian ground. Eoin Morgan and Kane Williamson hold the top spot with 15 wins each.
