Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra minister, was arrested for what reason? Details are here

Nawab Malik, the second Maharashtra Minister detained by a government investigation agency in four months, is facing allegations in connection with a land deal involving terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

The Enforcement Directorate is probing money-laundering links to the underworld and has lately conducted a number of raids in addition to filing proceedings against the underworld. Dawood Ibrahim’s brother, Iqbal Kaskar, was detained in the case last week.

According to Enforcement Directorate sources, certain evidence suggested transactions between Nawab Malik and Dawood Ibrahim affiliates.

The agency briefly searched Nawab Malik before transporting him to its south Mumbai headquarters. After five hours of interrogation, the minister was detained.

According to an official, he made evasive responses and refused to cooperate with them.

As per sources, Nawab Malik was also questioned about suspected dealings with Dawood Ibrahim’s associates and land deals.

During the inquiry, certain evidence relating to the property purchased by Nawab Malik was discovered, according to authorities.

Nawab Malik, a five-time MLA, serves as the national spokesman for Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which is a constituent of Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena-led government. He is the minority affairs minister.

He is one of the most outspoken opponents of the BJP, and in recent months, he has been the face of the opposition’s claims at the Centre about the Narcotics Control Bureau’s detention of megastar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.

In the money-laundering investigation, the Enforcement Directorate raided the house of Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar in Mumbai last week. The CIA also questioned Dawood’s nephew and Parkar’s son, Alishah Parkar, as well as Chota Shakeel’s henchman, Salim Qureshi, also known as Salim Fruits.
