Jack Sweeney rose to prominence after his peculiar pastime of following Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s private plane was brought to light. He has developed a new fascination. Sweeney has begun publicising the movements of planes affiliated with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the midst of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The 19-year-old Florida youngster is tweeting the current position of jets owned by Russian oligarchs as well as planes affiliated with Putin. He has created two Twitter bot accounts, @RUOligarchJets and @Putinjet, via which he often updates people on the location of Russian billionaires’ and the President’s private planes.
Sweeney is joyfully serving his admirers who later asked him to track Putin at a time when Russia-related actions should be kept under wraps so as not to attract excessive attention. He claimed he had demands to track Putin even before the war began, but the number of requests from his internet followers spiked once Russia began fighting Ukraine. The demands now included a request for him to follow the movements of private planes owned by Russian billionaires and officials.
In a short period of time, the new Twitter bots focusing on Russia’s president and elites have amassed over 200,000 followers. One of his bots follows Roman Abramovich, the oligarch owner of Chelsea Football Club, Leonid Mikhelson, the CEO of Russia’s largest private natural gas business Novatek, and Alisher Usmanov, the country’s richest man.
