Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a monument of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the grounds of the Pune Municipal Corporation on Sunday (March 6, 2022). The Statue is approximately 9.5 feet tall and constructed of 1,850 kg of gunmetal.
The ceremony was also attended by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra Assembly Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis, and Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.
PM Modi then inaugurated the 12-kilometre segment of the 32.2-kilometre Pune metro rail project after unveiling the monument of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), this project has cost more than Rs 11,400 crore and will deliver world-class infrastructure for urban transportation in Pune.
On December 24, 2016, the Prime Minister also placed the project’s foundation stone.
The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for and inaugurate a number of development initiatives. He will create the groundwork for the Mula-Mutha River projects’ revitalization and pollution abatement. A 9-kilometre length of the river would be rejuvenated at a cost of more than Rs 1,080 crores.
The Mula-Mutha River pollution abatement project will be done on the “One City One Operator” model and would cost more than Rs 1,470 crore. The project will include the construction of 11 sewage treatment units with a total capacity of about 400 MLD. The Prime Minister will also unveil 140 e-buses and an e-bus facility built in Baner.
