Income Tax Department conducts searches on Shiv Sena leaders Aaditya Thackeray and Anil Parab’s close associates

On Tuesday morning, the Income Tax (IT) department’s investigative wing conducted searches at the houses of Rahul Kanal, Shiv Sena member Sadanand Kadam, and deputy regional transport officer Bajrang Kharmate. The government looked for 12 venues that were related to the three in Mumbai and Pune.

While Rahul Kanal is claimed to be connected to Shiv Sena youth leader and Maharashtra tourist minister Aaditya Thackeray, Sadanand Kadam is the brother of Shiv Sena politician Ramdas Kadam and the business partner of Shiv Sena leader and transport minister Anil Parab.

Anil Parab is also known to be connected to Bajrang Kharmate. Kharmate has already been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a case involving former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. The ED recorded Kharmate’s statement as part of its investigation into the transfer posting problem in Maharashtra’s home and transport departments.

Income Tax inspectors raided the residence of Shiv Sena lawmaker and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation standing committee chairman Yeshwant Jadhav, as well as properties belonging to his close aides and numerous BMC contractors, last month. Bimal Agarwal, Madani, Landmark Infrastructure, Bipin Jain, and others are among them.

During its investigation, the Income Tax department discovered evidence of immovable property worth more than Rs 130 crore in the name of Yeshwant Jadhav and his family members and aides. The department discovered records and evidence indicating that contracts were allocated fraudulently, shell firms were employed, and hawala transactions were conducted.

Following charges of corruption and cartelisation against Jadhav and BMC contractors, 35 locations were searched.
