According to authorities, the National Medical Commission has eliminated the upper age restriction for people taking the NEET-Under Graduate 2022 test.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) set an upper age limit of 25 years for unreserved applicants and 30 years for reserved candidates in 2017.
The CBSE noted in a statement that the upper age limit for NEET-UG is 25 years as of the date of examination, with a five-year exemption for applicants belonging to the SC/ST/OBC category.
“I would like to notify you that the 4th NMC meeting held on October 21, 2021, determined that there should be no defined upper age restriction for sitting in the NEET-UG test.” As a result, the information bulletin may be modified accordingly.
Furthermore, the procedure for formal notice to adequately change the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997 to this effect has been commenced,” stated Dr Pulkesh Kumar, Secretary NMC, in a correspondence addressed on March 9 to Dr Devvrat, Office of Senior Director, National Testing Agency.
The age criterion has frequently been challenged in the country’s Supreme Court and high courts. With the age limit criteria abolished, candidates may now take the medical entrance test as many times as they like, even after enrolling in other degrees, according to an official.
The measure will also benefit people seeking entry into other nations.
