The Corbevax vaccine, produced by the indigenous business Biological E, would be given to the five crore youngsters in this age bracket, according to the government.

Due to process innovation, large-scale manufacturing, and efficient high-quality operations, Biological E claims to be the most economical COVID-19 vaccination on the market.

The government announced vaccination recommendations for youngsters aged 12 to 14 years old yesterday, which said, among other things, that only Corbevax will be utilised for this age range. The guidelines stated that children aged 12-14 would receive two doses of Corbevax at a 28-day gap.

Officials are reviewing Aadhaar cards or school ID cards to ensure that the youngsters who have sought immunisation are eligible.

A minor concern with this age group’s vaccination is that each vial has 20 doses, and in order to minimise wastage, 20 children must be present at the same time so that doses may be provided within hours of opening the vial, according to Pradeep Kumar, a Delhi vaccine officer.
