Gautam Adani’s wealth has increased by $49 billion, putting him ahead of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk: Report
According to the 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List, Gautam Adani, India’s and Asia’s second-richest person, added $49 billion to his wealth last year, which is more than the net increase of wealth by the top three global billionaires, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bernard Arnault.
Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of the oil-to-retail giant Reliance Industries, is the richest Indian, with a fortune of $103 billion, a 24% increase year on year.
Adani, the CEO of the ports-to-energy giant Adani Group, comes in second, with his fortune increasing 153% to $81 billion.
His fortune expanded roughly fivefold after listing renewable energy business Adani Green, from $17 billion in 2020 to $81 billion.
As per the report, Ambani’s fortune would increase by USD 20 billion in 2021.
According to Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and Chief Researcher, India ranks third in terms of the number of billionaires and billionaires who have added at least a billion dollars to their wealth.
He claims that India now has 18% of the world’s population and 8% of the world’s “known” billionaires, up from 4.9% five years ago.
There are 215 billionaires in India, compared to 1,133 billionaires in China and 716 billionaires in the United States.
According to the announcement, Adani is the greatest wealth gainer on the 2022 list, followed by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and Bernard Arnault, founder and CEO of luxury goods group LVMH ($39 billion increase).
