Petrol and Diesel prices were raised by 80 paise a litre on March 22 after the prices were static for over 137 days. Petrol is now Rs 96.21/litre in Delhi and Diesel is Rs 87.47/litre. In Mumbai, petrol is now Rs 110.78, while diesel is Rs 94.94/litre.
This was the first fuel price hike since November 4, 2021. After the central government announced a cut in excise duty by Rs 5 and 10 on petrol and diesel, there was no hike and people were relieved. However, the dream of cheap fuel was short-lived.
Apart from fuel prices, the cooking gas prices were also raised today. Domestic LPG cylinder prices have been hiked by Rs 50 in Delhi, Mumbai and other cities. The latest hike in fuel prices is not as high as the LPG cylinder prices. The fuel prices were affected after the Russia Ukraine invasion as the prices of crude oil went up to $100 in the international markets.
