In 24 hours, India records 1,581 new COVID-19 cases and 33 deaths: Centre

According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded a single-day increase of 1,581 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 4,30,10,971, while active cases decreased to 23,913.

As per ministry figures updated at 8 a.m., the number of deaths has risen to 5,16,543, with 33 deaths.


The active cases account for 0.06 per cent of total infections, with a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 98.74 per cent, according to the report.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has been reduced by 1,193 cases.


According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.28 per cent, and the weekly positivity rate was 0.39 per cent.

In the previous 24 hours, a total of 5,68,471 COVID-19 tests were performed. India has performed around 78.36 crore total tests so far.


The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,24,70,515 with a case fatality rate of 1.20 per cent.

The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 181.56 crores.


On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It reached 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

On May 4th, India passed the terrible milestone of 2 crore instances, and on June 23rd, it passed the dreadful milestone of 3 crore cases.
