Dell refreshes its top-tier XPS 15, XPS 17 laptops with 12th generation Intel processors and quicker RAM than before
Dell has upgraded its premium XPS line laptops with the newest Intel chipsets. Dell’s XPS 15 and XPS 17 will now come with Intel’s 12th-generation Alder Lake-H CPUs. Dell laptops will now be offered in three additional CPU combinations as a result of this.
These will include the Intel Core i5-12500H, Core i7-12700H, and Core i9-12900HK processors. These CPUs have clocked speeds of 4.5GHz, 4.7GHz, and 5GHz, respectively. As of currently, the top-tier i9-12900HK option is only available on the XPS 15.
Aside from the new CPUs, Dell’s XPS series now has DDR5-4800 RAM. Surprisingly, this will support up to 64GB of RAM. Everything else about the computers stays the same.
For those who are unaware, Dell debuted the XPS 15 and XPS 17 in India in August of last year, with prices beginning at Rs 2,23,990. Dell’s premium laptops were equipped with 11th Gen Intel Core i9H processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics on the XPS 17.
Except for the 12th-generation Intel chips, the upgraded models are virtually unchanged. The new XPS 15 and XPS 17 retain a sturdy, lightweight design, with a 15.6-inch 16:10 display on the XPS 15 and a 17-inch display on the XPS 17. The two laptops include both touchscreen and non-touchscreen variants, with resolutions of 3840 x 2400 pixels and 1920 x 1200 pixels, respectively.
Dell has set the starting price for the new XPS 15 2022 at $1,449 (about Rs 1,10,500). The XPS 17 begins at $1,849 (about Rs 1,41,000). It is unclear when the new models will be available in India.
