Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is expected to be released in May, with flagship phones following in June
As per recent information from a reliable source, Qualcomm may release a new flagship Chipset in May of this year. The processor will be a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and, as has long been speculated, will be dubbed Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+.
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will be built on TSMC’s 4nm technology, which is thought to have lower possibilities of overheating than Samsung’s 4nm architecture. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is also expected to improve overall performance, and the good news is that we may not have to wait long to experience these improvements.
The report was supplied by tipster Yogesh Brar in a recent tweet, where he also lists additional Snapdragon chipsets that Qualcomm is working on. According to the following OnSiteGo rumour, flagship phones based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ might be released as early as June this year.
As per the rumour, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will have the product number SM8475 and will be the first Qualcomm chip to use TSMC’s 4nm node. It will be Qualcomm’s reaction to MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9000 series chipsets, which are less expensive yet perform similarly well as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chipsets. Qualcomm may now be attempting to reclaim its performance advantage with its upcoming flagship device.
