In India, 1,225 new COVID-19 cases have been registered, with 28 Covid deaths occurring in the last 24 hours: Centre
With 1,225 new coronavirus infections detected in a single day, India’s infection tally jumped to 4,30,24,440, while active cases fell to 14,307, according to the Union health ministry.
According to ministry figures updated at 8 a.m., the total number of dead has risen to 5,21,129, including 28 new fatalities.
As per the ministry, active cases account for 0.03 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76 percent. In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has been reduced by 397 cases.
The daily Covid positivity rate in the country was 0.20 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.23 percent.
So far, 78.91 crore Covid tests have been performed, with 6,07,987 tests performed in the previous 24 hours.
According to the ministry, 21 of the 28 new fatalities are from Kerala.
So far, the country has reported 5,21,129 deaths, including 1,47,782 in Maharashtra, 67,865 in Kerala, 40,053 in Karnataka, 38,025 in Tamil Nadu, 26,152 in Delhi, 23,495 in Uttar Pradesh, and 21,197 in West Bengal.
The government emphasised that comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the fatalities.
On December 19, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally topped one crore. Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23.
