With 1,096 new coronavirus infections recorded in a single day, India’s overall COVID-19 case count increased to 4,30,28,131, while active cases fell to 13,013, according to Union Health Ministry figures released on Sunday.
The death toll increased to 5,21,345 with 81 new fatalities, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.
According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.03 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76 percent.
In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has been reduced by 432 cases.
On December 19, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the one-crore mark.
Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. According to the Health Ministry, the daily positive rate was 0.24 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.23 percent.
The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,24,93,773, with a case fatality rate of 1.21 percent.
The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 184.66 crores.
So far, 79.07 crore tests have been performed, with 4,65,904 tests performed in the previous 24 hours.
Among the 81 fresh deaths include 74 were from Kerala.
The Health Ministry emphasised that comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the fatalities.
