With 1,033 new coronavirus infections recorded in a single day, India’s overall number of COVID-19 cases increased to 4,30,31,958, while active cases decreased to 11,639, according to figures updated today by the Union Health Ministry.
According to figures updated at 8 a.m., the total number of dead has risen to 5,21,530, including 43 new fatalities.
According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.03 per cent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has been reduced by 232 cases.
According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.21 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.22 per cent.
The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,24,98,789, with a case fatality rate of 1.21 per cent.
The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 185.18 crores.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It reached 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.
“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
