The 1st World Health Day was celebrated in 1950. This date was passed in WHO in 1948 in the First Health Assembly, hence it also marks the anniversary of WHO after it was established in 1948.

The World Health Organization was established in 1945 at the UN conference. A motion was passed to create a new and independent organization that is solely dedicated to discussing health topics.

This year, WHO is aiming to create awareness about Earth’s health. The theme is ‘Our Planet, Our Health’, indicating the ongoing pandemic and growing pollution on the planet, chronic diseases like cancer, asthma and heart diseases.
