Google Docs is soon going to bring in emojis in their doc files! Yes, you heard that right! You will be able to react to text on Google Docs with a simple emoji rather than a fully written comment. The blog post announcement mentioned that the new emoji reaction feature will offer a less formal alternative to comments to express your opinions about the written content.
“Emoji set is updated to the latest version (Emoji 14.0), reflecting the latest emoji set with options to accurately reflect your identity,” the company said in the blog post.
The blog post also said that they are bringing gender-neutral options for gender modifiable emojis. They also mentioned that this feature cannot be disabled manually by the user. It is a default option.
To use reactions in your Google Docs, you can hover over any message or existing anchor and click on the ‘Add reaction’ icon.
Additionally, emoji preferences are shared with Google Chat, so any preferences set in one app will be seen in the other. Both apps can be used to update emoji preferences via the picker.
With this new feature, you will be able to express your opinion in a clearer and sometimes a funnier way. Is emoji already a formal form of communication now?
