According to Union Health Ministry data released on Monday, India recorded 861 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,30,36,132, with 11,058 active cases.
The death toll increased to 5,21,691 with six more fatalities, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.
According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.03 per cent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has been reduced by 74 cases.
According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.32 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.23 per cent.
The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,25,03,383, with a case fatality rate of 1.21 per cent. The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 185.74 crores.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It reached 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19. On May 4, the country passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark.
“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
