Netflix is coming up with a new rating system – now you rate titles with 2 thumbs. On Monday, the OTT streaming giant announced that it will offer a third thumbs-based option to rate movies, TV shows, reality shows, and documentaries that you loved. Usually, there are two options to rate titles – Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down, but now with this 3rd option people will be able to express their opinion even better.
If one thumbs up mean you liked the title, 2 thumbs up will mean you loved the title. Netflix has already started to roll out this feature for TV, Android, Web, and iOS.
Why Netflix is introducing Two Thumbs Up?
In a blog post on Monday, Netflix’s director Christine Doig-Cardet added: “Consider Two Thumbs Up as a way to fine-tune your recommendations. A Thumbs Up still lets us know what you liked, so we use this response to make similar recommendations. But a Two Thumbs Up tells us what you loved and helps us get even more specific with your recommendations.”
It takes us back to the question about what is the value of Two Thumbs down? Doig Cardet in an interview with Gadgets 360 said that it will be a step towards providing better recommendations to the users and there’s no ‘predetermined weight’.
5 years back Netflix had the 5-star rating system which Netflix changed into only Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down and now it has bought the double thumbs-up option which looks like the previous rating system, yet is presented differently.
