In 24 hours, India has recorded 2,067 new COVID-19 cases, including 40 deaths

With 2,067 new coronavirus infections recorded in a single day, India’s overall number of COVID-19 cases surged to 4,30,47,594, while active cases jumped to 12,340, according to figures provided today by the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll increased to 5,22,006 with 40 more fatalities, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.

According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.03 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76 percent.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has increased by 480 cases.

According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.49 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.38 percent.

The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,25,13,248, with a case fatality rate of 1.21 percent.

The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 186.90 crore.

Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23.

Thirty-four people died in Kerala, three in Maharashtra, and one each in Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, and Nagaland.

The government emphasised that comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the fatalities.
